Barry Blackwell convinced a former member of state parliament to run for mayor JohnTrainer.Considering the Local Government Assoc. is currently looking at amending the local Government act regarding conditions to allow you to run as a candidate in local
Government.Many people in the past have been elected in local government then run as a candidate for a political party. However due to the structure in state politics and local government a mayor may use the same method in local government.Local government is a part time involvement. many may stay to long in local government.There is no political parties in local government.However Mayor Trainer was a member of the right wing of the South Australia Labor Party.
one practice which is of concern is the use of political parties computer base to get candidates elected.Thishas happened in the City of Onkapringa and City of Charles Sturt. May be Mayor trainer would like to take these issuses up with the local Government Assoc.

lack of Comunity Development West Torrens Council
Considering when West Torrens Council had a outstanding person who understood Community Development in South Australia its sad to see this council go down hill so fast since Joe Fayad left to join Prospect Council.First we had the sale of the old Works Depot West Thebarton RoadThebarton.
I was a elected member keswick Ward 1999-2000 at the time.This was followed by Community land
status removed to allow commercial development Brick Works Market South Road Thebarton.Although I support a Big W being built on this site.Will the owner of Torrensville SuperMarket Roger Drake plus 28 other stores attempt to delay this development like Hilton Plaza.How much did this cost West Torrens at Hilton Plaza ?Will this happen again at the Brickworks Market once plans are lodged with West TorrensCouncil by the developers of the big W at the Brick Works Market South Road Thebarton
Is the Falcon Av. Community House now under threat by West Torrens council?Why has staff numbers been reduced& courses cut? Will another Community asset be sold by West Torrens Council?Community Development is vital surely former Thebarton Mayor O'rielley now Lockleys Ward Councillor will fight for
retention of this valuable community asset in Falcon Av. Thebarton.Hilton Ward Councillor may also fight for this centre considering electors of Hilton Ward are close to this Centre.Trusting current Councillors West Torrens Council will listen to their Community in the future.Its hoped that Community values are considered in 2011 budget of West Torrens Council.
